CEME TZAIR (Young CEME)

The CEME TZAIR (Young CEME - Contemporary Encounters Meitar Ensemble) is an exciting and unique meeting place for talented, extremely young composers with musicians of the Meitar Ensemble, composer Dr. Hana Ajiashvili and senior composition teachers in Israel.

The Course is unique not only because of the young age of the participants (from 9 to 18 years old), but also because of the creative process that begins months before the final concert.

The ensemble and the composition teachers accompany the process from the very first sketch until the final meeting, which is a few days of an intensive course. The meetings used to take place in Kibutz Sasa and from summer 2022 it will take place in Studio Annette in Tel-Aviv – Meitar Ensemble's new residence.

In CEME TZAIR, the kids recieve master classes, workshops, composition lessons and rehearsals with the members of the Meitar Ensemble. Some of the courses are devoted to specific subjects, such as film music and music for choreography.

The pieces written in the framework of CEME TZAIR were performed on different venues and festivals in Israel, including the Tel-Aviv Museum, Voices in the Desert festival in Sde Boker and the Willy Brandt Center in Jerusalem. Yaniv Kurtzbard's piece – a music for a scene from Charlie Chaplin's movie “Modern Times” received the 1st prize in an international competition held in Luxembourg in 2022.
